Private Taxi from Phnom Penh to Siem ReapT

Has anything changed on how to to get from Phnom Penh and Siem Reap (and Siem Reap to Phnom Penh) in 2020? You bet! There are options to fit every budget, but some are nicer and more comfortable than others. I’ve tried all of these ways to travel between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, some of them many times. Right now the road is in great condition and it’s a smooth ride, unlike in years past. The journey by road usually takes between 4:30 and 5:30 hours, depending on your mode of transport.

Cambodia Private taxis can reserved in advance online (at surprisingly reasonable rates). The trip takes between 4:30 and 6:00 hours depending on traffic and how often you need to stop. If you reserve online, you will get a SUV taxi, usually a very comfortable Lexus SUV. Booking online allows you to pay Cash.

Cambodia Private Taxi is my current favorite Taxi online from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. This Private Taxi-owned transport company runs new (and very comfortable) Toyota Lexus SUV between Phnom Penh and Siem

Reap. SUV Car only carry 1-4 passengers at a time, Mini-Van Hyundai H1 carry 1-7passengers . The trip takes about 5.5 hours with two stops and they drive cautiously—they even have a sign on the back of the van saying “How’s my driving?” with a phone number to call. Trip from SiemReap To Kulen Mountain sacred place

Our driver took Guest through an ancient reservoir and we saw pretty villages and rice paddies.The sacred Kulen mountain is the birthplace of the Angkorian era.You can only go up the mountain between 8 and 12 and then it's open to travel down.The river contains holy water and is crystal clear making it easy to see the Thousand Lingas carved into the river bed.The river sits at the base of Wat Preah Ang Thom which is an ancient temple.  We had to remove our shoes before the final ascent to the temple.


We saw here many monks and local people which added to the atmosphere. Many people go here to see the giant reclining Buddha only a certain amount at a time as it is very busy. Down we went and on down many steps to a waterfall where you could swim.People had been advised to wear modest clothing but sadly many stripped off to their underwear,a shame when it is such a holy mountain for the local people.So expect a place that is very busy but beautiful.

The mountain: This is a very sacred place. You can pay a few cents to have holy water poured over a Shiva linga and you wash your face and head with sacred water. Enjoy some refreshing fresh cut fruit for a few cents. Buy honey collected from the mountain bees. Buy 'mountain bananas' from the vendors on the road up or down the mountain. Don't give them candy or money handouts was my Cambodian man's advice.



River and waterfalls: The carvings on the river bed are amazing. The site is very sacred and special. The water flows over the carvings and is considered holy water. The waterfalls are pretty but the reason people go is to swim in the blessed water. 'Rent a room' for 50 cents to change your clothes at the waterfall. Rent an inner tube to float around. Watch local children with their machetes as they play on the rocks. But watch out for snakes if you think about sitting on the riverbank away from the crowds.
